Cookies and drafts are different

A cookie is a small value your browser can send back with a request. LearnLLM uses cookies for sign-in. It also uses local storage, which keeps drafts and preferences in this browser. Account progress and saved system builds are separate records on the server.

What the site stores here

Sign-in cookies: Keep you signed in and support security checks and the return to your chosen page. The sign-in session is configured for up to seven days and can be renewed as you use the site. Closing a tab is not the same as signing out.
Theme: Remembers your light or dark appearance setting on this browser.
Work in progress: Keeps Playground prompts and recent runs, challenge drafts, local build copies, and cached lesson progress. Signed-in workspaces use account-specific storage keys, but browser storage is not a private vault.
Analytics choice: The local-storage entry learnllm:analytics-consent:v1 remembers whether this browser accepted or declined optional analytics. This preference is saved when you choose, and remains until you change it or clear site data. If it cannot be saved, analytics stays off for the current page.
Optional analytics: Only after acceptance, Google Analytics uses _ga and _ga_* cookies to recognize a browser and session. These cookies are configured for up to 180 days without extending the expiry on each visit. PostHog, when configured and not previously opted out, can also use cookies and local storage. Analytics is not required for lessons, sign-in, or saving progress. Automatic interaction capture and session recording are disabled.

What you can control

Use Analytics settings on any page where analytics is configured to accept or decline optional analytics. Accept and decline are equally available. Declining stops future analytics events and attempts to clear analytics cookies; requests already sent cannot be recalled.
Use Sign out when you finish on a shared device. Signing out does not clear all saved browser drafts.
Download any work you want to keep before clearing LearnLLM's site data in your browser settings.
Use your browser's cookie and tracking controls to restrict storage. Blocking sign-in cookies can prevent login; blocking local storage can prevent draft recovery.

Clearing browser data does not delete your account, server-saved progress, or requests already sent to an AI provider. Analytics choices apply to this browser. Clearing the choice will ask you again; no analytics loads while a choice is missing. Browser privacy controls may also prevent analytics even after acceptance.
